If you’ve been spending hours inside designing or filling in adult coloring pages and books, it might be time to step outside and get your hands dirty! Building a vertical pallet garden is the perfect rustic upcycling project to transform a blank wall into a thriving space for fresh herbs, fruits, and veggies.
Materials Required:
1.A wooden pallet
2.Protective eyewear and work gloves
3.Circular saw
4.Landscape fabric
5.Staple gun
6.Potting soil
7.Plants (strawberries, Nevada lettuce, Red Sails lettuce, basil, and cherry tomatoes)
Step-by-Step Guide:
1.Preparation and Cutting: Equip yourself with eye protection and gloves. With a circular saw, carefully cut the wooden pallet to your preferred dimensions.
2.Fabric Lining: Encase the back, bottom, and sides of the pallet with landscape fabric. Secure it with staples along the edges, ensuring that the corners are folded neatly to form a robust pocket for the soil.
3.Soil Filling: Position the pallet upright. Pour potting soil into the top, using a stick or tool to firmly pack the soil, ensuring it fills the entire cavity lined with fabric.
4.Garden Planting: Utilize a utility knife or scissors to create small slits in the landscape fabric between the front wooden slats. Gently insert the roots of your strawberries, lettuce, basil, and tomatoes into these slits.
5.Watering and Displaying: Provide adequate water to your new plants, and either lean or mount your completed rustic garden against a sunlit wall!
